The storm

We had quite the storm last night... As the sun was setting we began to hear an almost constant roll of thunder. Looking to the east, we noticed sunbeams contrasted against the dark sky... but the strange thing was that they were shining from the east, opposite the setting sun! They became more intense as the sky darkened. The only thing I could imagine is that the sun was reflecting off massive white thunderheads, creating the backward sunbeams.

Notice the sun on the trees, shining from the west.

The sky turned a strong copper color, and a brilliant double rainbow appeared.

After hearing loud crashing and a low rumble through the trees, large hail began to fall. Can you imagine a downpour of 2" hail pelting a tin roof? It was deafeningly loud! We're thankful the Lord protected our garden and house, despite the hail.

From Weather
Some of the hail we picked up after the storm... it had already melted a bit.

These incredible storms are such vivid reminders of God's awesome power... and seeing His power magnifies His condescension.

"Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power,"...yet he is "moved with compassion" toward us. -- Job & Matthew

How did the fruit trees handle it?

The fruit trees were practically untouched... PTL, He answered our prayer! When we were in town this afternoon, someone told me that a friend's garden had been ruined by the hail.
