Dear family & friends,
After many weeks of preparation, we have begun our trip to Chuuk. Thank you to each of you who are uplifting this mission trip in prayer. During the weeks of preparation we clearly recognized that Satan is not pleased with it. Among the out-of-the-ordinary trials, my cat developed a serious problem that has taken quite a bit of time and attention. We know that all trials that come to us have been reviewed and approved by Jesus, who knows just what we can handle, and gives us strength to pass through them.
We also want to thank each of you who God impressed to contribute to this mission trip. We were able to purchase everything on Uncle Roger & Aunt Amy’s list of things they need! Much of it is going on a shipping container that will be sent to Chuuk. The rest of their list is in eight 50-pound boxes that we are able to take on the plane for no extra cost! We are bringing lots of food that is hard to get in Chuuk such as dried fruit, nuts, wheat, and other goodies. Things that are going on the container include solar panels and batteries, stove, geography maps and globe for the school. Thank you for your part in contributing many useful things for Paata Mission!
We are especially grateful for the Mason family who is housesitting for us while we are away. They arrived early last week and were a great help to us as we finished the packing process.
We left home this morning for Seattle, from where we will fly out, Lord willing, around noon tomorrow. After a 12-hour flight, we have a 17-hour layover in Osaka, Japan before flying on to Guam. The Lord answered our prayers for clear roads – the temperatures have been well above freezing.
We are all well except that Rachel is fighting to get over a cold.
As we are able, we will try to send updates. Please pray that we will continue to have safe travels and that God will use us to be a light to others.
Lisa & family
